The Practice of Leadership Session from the 2016 Global Leadership Forum challenged the notion of a “leader” and instead posit leadership as a process and activity that can be exercised by all. Prof. Heifetz shares how the Adaptive Leadership framework can be operationalized to help individuals and organizations adapt and thrive in challenging environments. The discussion also explored how this can be applied in the context of a global institution like the World Bank Group.

Ronald Heifetz, King Hussein bin Talal Senior Lecturer in Public Leadership, Founding Director of the Center for Public Leadership at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University
Heifetz speaks extensively and advises heads of governments, businesses, and nonprofit organizations throughout the world. He co-developed the adaptive framework of leadership practice. His research focuses on building the adaptive capacity of organizations and societies. Heifetz is also well-known for developing transformative methods of leadership education and development. His courses on leadership at Harvard are legendary. A graduate of Columbia University, Harvard Medical School, and the Kennedy School, Heifetz is a physician and cellist.
